Hindi

The Hindi department of RTSS comprises 6 educators; Mrs. Tanuja Pudaruth-Beeharry, Mrs. Poonum Jahaly, Mrs. Droopatee Madhou, Mr. Vijaysingh Saulick, Miss. Viswani Beedassy & Mr. Vishal Bholah. The department conducts Hindi classes for Form I to Upper VI students and special attention is also given to the beginner classes (Form I-III). Besides the Hindi language, Literature in Hindi is also taught at the RTSS as per the School Certificate syllabus. Multimedia kit, films, music and other teaching aids are often used to create the proper environment for students to appreciate and learn the Hindi language. The dynamic and resourceful staff of the department regularly seeks new techniques to render the classes more lively and interesting so as to cater for the needs of students coming from a non-Hindi background. It should also be highlighted that the Hindi language transcends all the religious barriers. Hence, the department promotes learning of Hindi language for students of different religious backgrounds, be it Muslims or Christians. The Hindi Department achieved the targetted 100% pass for the School Certificate Examinations for the two consecutive years 2006-2007. The department also proudly points out that the students; Athian Doorgavatee, Ramjug Komalta Devi and Emerith Sushma Devi were ranked among the first 10 students in the Hindi language whereby Athian Doorgavatee, Dabeea Toosheela and Gopaul Yannishtha were ranked among the 10 best for Literature in Hindi in the 2006 School Certificate Examination at the National Level. The department has been active in extra-curricular activities such as essay writing competitions, poetry recitation competitions and elocution competitions. Our students Gopaul Yannishtha and Emerith Sushma shined in the elocution contests organised by the Hindi Speaking Union in May 2006 and April 2007.
