Aims and Objectives:

 

To promote the Chinese Language and Culture.

 

Chinese Language is one of the five Asian languages which are promoted at RTSS. Chinese Language, which is also known as Mandarin and Modern Chinese, is offered as from Form I to Hsc level.

The department also gives the opportunity to any other student to learn the language in Form I, dividing the class into beginner and non-beginner classes. And at the end of Form III, students (including the “beginners”) are strongly encouraged to continue learning the language and thus taking part in the Chinese Language Examination at SC and HSC level.

While teaching the Chinese language, the students come to know about the Chinese culture and also the geography and history of China. Multi media equipment, movies, music and other teaching aids such as flash cards, posters etc are often used during the learning process so as to create a proper environment for the students to be keener in learning Chinese.


Activities:

 

 Since last year (2009), RTSS has also come up with the idea of teaching the Chinese Language to the upper forms students during their activity period, so that if ever, they had the opportunity to go and study in China, it would be of a great help to them.

Students are often encouraged to participate in activities organized at school level, such as Chinese poem recitation and prize giving ceremony.
